Welcome to Volocity, a powerful software suite designed for scientific image analysis and visualization. To ensure optimal performance and a smooth user experience, please review the following system requirements before installing Volocity on your computer.
Minimum System Requirements:
Processor: Intel Core i5-12400 or Intel Xeon W-2223
Memory: 16GB of DDR4 or DDR5 RAM.
Graphics Card: Intel integrated graphics for basic operation (discrete video card recommended)
Storage: 500GB of solid-state storage (SSD) with a separate mechanical backup hard drive to store backups of Volocity's configuration files.
Operating System: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit / Windows 10 64-bit.
Display: 1920x1080 Resolution Display
Recommended System Requirements:
Processor: Intel Core i7-13700 processor or equivalent. (Intel Core i7 13700K, i9 13900, i9 13900k, Xeon W-2255, Xeon W-2265)
Memory: 32GB of DDR4 or DDR5 RAM.
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or Quadro A4000 (required for the restorationMV module).
Storage: 500GB or more NVMe SSD with a separate mechanical backup hard drive to store backups of Volocity's configuration files..
Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit.
Display: We recommend a minimum of 2560x1440 resolution and IPS panel technology for optimal image viewing.

Operating System: Volocity is compatible with Windows 10 64-bit, and Windows 7 SP1 64-bit. For other operating systems, compatibility may vary, and performance cannot be guaranteed.
Graphics Drivers: It is essential to ensure that you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your graphics card. This will help optimize the performance and stability of Volocity.
Backup Mechanism: To safeguard your Volocity configuration files, it is recommended to maintain regular backups on a separate mechanical hard drive.
Network Connectivity: While Volocity does not require continuous internet access, occasional internet connectivity might be necessary for software updates and licensing verification.
Display Resolution: For the best experience, it is advisable to use a display with a resolution of 1920x1080 or higher.
Permissions and Privileges: Ensure that you have administrative privileges or appropriate permissions to install and run software on your computer.
Virtual Environments: Running Volocity within virtual environments may impact performance. If possible, use the software on a dedicated physical machine.
Antivirus and Security Software: Please ensure that any antivirus or security software installed on your system does not interfere with Volocity's functionalities.
Limited testing has been done with AMD Ryzen and Threadripper processors. We expect these processors to work with Volocity, however they may conflict with certain scientific instruments.
Apple systems no longer support 32-bit applications and do not support the current version of Volocity. For apple users, Volocity version 6.3 or older is required.
Remember, these are the recommended and minimum system requirements. For better performance, especially when dealing with large datasets or complex analyses, you may want to consider a system with even higher specifications.
